What are the symptoms of Tetanus in swine?

The signs of tetanus are spasms of the skeletal muscles. The pig starts to have a stiff gait and in 1-2 days will have diffuculty walking, to the point that it will not be able to walk. It’s muscle will go into contraction phase and stay that way. There are no unique lesions found on necropsy. There is no practicle treatment once the animal is showing signs. Penicillin and tetanus toxoid are possible items to use if an injury has occurred.
